What Is PRT?
The Human System
The human system consists of both physical and energetical parts, which work harmoniously to create the human perspective or perceptions of humanity.
Perception creates our reality and reality creates the moment we exist in; but what are those perceptions and how do they influence our reality?
Furthermore how are so many of our perceptions seemingly out of our control yet influence so much of our reality, i.e. our lives?
And most importantly, how many of the mental health issues we deal with in our daily lives are a result of false realities created by perceptions out of our control? Can some of our most difficult issues be solved by a change of perception?
WE SAY YES!!!
Key Concepts of Perception
The relationship between perception and reality is a dual layered relationship. Firstly, our perceptions create the road map for our relationships with the reality around us. We call it the key concepts of perception or KCP. Secondly, once set those same relationships (KCP) dictate our perceptions
KCP is broken down as follows:
-
Our perception on our relationship with world
-
Our perception on our relationship with friends and colleagues
-
Our perception on our relationship with our family
-
Our perception on our relationship with ourselves
-
Our perception on our relationship with the eternal/energetical/ the unknown /infinite realm
If you believe like we do that our universe was created as an environment to benefit the fulfilment of our individual potential, than perception is the environment (reality) we create from the world around us that allows us to develop and achieve our potential. The rest is up to us, but be warned; when your environment goes against the destination you have set, things start becoming two steps forward one step back sometimes even three or four…
So where do we take things from here?
Well, knowing all this we can truly start understanding what it means that most of our issues lay within our perception, not so much how we see the world as how we accept the inputs the world offers. Once we understand this seemingly simple truth we can start focusing on real change. Because when the inputs we receive through our perceptions are true and not corrupted our wonderful processor of a brain can do wonders for us.
So, how to achieve this?
Achieving this falls under what we like to call so simple its complex and so complex its simple. Let’s start at the simple; how our brain processes perception. The answer to that lies in a landmark study by Dr. Seymour Epstein called the Cognitive-Experiential Self Theory or for short CEST(Epstein, S. (in press). Cognitive-experiential self-theory: An integrative theory of personality. In J. Tennen, & J. Suls (Eds.), Handbook of Psychology, Vol.5, 2 nd. Ed. Hoboken,NJ: John Wiley & Sons.)
This study in human perception identified a dual process of perception of the human brain as differentiated into two camps: the cognitive and the experiential. The cognitive is the objective/logical side of perception best summed up in the old adage, “what you see is what you get”. This system of perception, and it is a complete system in itself, is one that looks at reality as the sum of its parts. Takes every new experience and breaks it downs according to the facts as they exist without any baggage (past experience or knowledge) purely as what is. Best exemplified by experiences in the work place, any of the STEM fields, etc.
The other camp, the experiential process of perception is more closely linked to our animal brain and is the process of perception that relates every new experience to a past experience or set of past experiences and perceives the moment based on those past experiences. What happens when we have a lot of experiences with a common thread? Those experiences become an experiential pattern. The reality that is created by these perceptions are not “clean” realities but infused by our past.
Now that we understand the simple of how our perception works, let’s understand the complex part.
The complex part of this simple concept is how to make it work for us in our lives and change what kind of inputs create our reality and in that way solving a lot of the mental health issues plaguing mankind.
The first stage is to look at the way people change and how we can incorporate how we change to affect a real change in our lives not just within ourselves but also in the environment we exist in.
Change is a three step process of awakening – cleansing – change.
-
Awakening: an experience that a person connects to in a basic way that turns into a guiding example that the person wants to emulate; usually a spark and the start of an idea.
-
Cleansing: The stage in which we cleanse all the enemies of our progress, be they foreign or domestic.
-
Change: The actual proactive change we have decided to undertake in which we start building a new reality.
The second stage takes our understanding from above and develops it further to better understand how our experiences and more importantly our experiential patterns influence our day to day lives. There are three ways in which this happens:
-
Filter: When our experiential patterns filter our perceptions of the world around, usually what we see and feel.
-
Translation: When our experiential patterns translate how we understand the world around us, usually what we hear and read.
-
Magnetism: Our systems automatically magnetize similar information and energy to us, i.e. people and situations.
Incorporating the process of change and the understanding of the three influencers with the deep and evolved understanding of a dual process theory of perception can allow us to not only understand ourselves in the world and achieve real and true change but connect to the third influencer of our perception, which is the spiritual or the energetical world.
If you believe like we do and as scientific study has started to show that one of the main reason this realm or dimension exists is to create finite experiences of information for the infinite realm, which by the way has been postulated throughout human history by numerous philosophies, supported by science which has shown that all energy carries with it information, which is best exemplified by cell and TV signal running through optical wires carrying nothing but light; than you can start seeing the overall picture of spirituality in our lives which is an energetical relationship between us and the infinite realm in which we send information created through our experiences in the finite realm to the infinite realm and the infinite realm sends us back energy. It’s how we can feel so full of energy and power when we connect to the spiritual. We do however, have to remember that all energy carries with it information and the energy we receive from the eternal is no different, in the case of the energy we receive, the information carried is synchronized with our here and now or what we magnetize to ourselves. More on this later but what is important to remember here is that the information carried on the energy is external experiences that support our experiential perception which influences our reality. If the mind is a flow of energy and information, then our experiential patterns are the matrix in which the energy and information flow.
